St. Andrews Town Hotel by Eight Continents

Was shocked to see the hotel did not look as advertised with scaffolding everywhere and all the ivy was gone leaving bare concrete. The gardens were not maintained and it looked a little sad in comparison to the photos i had seen. Also not super happy being woken up at 8.30am to noisy builders. The shades in the bathroom allowed people on the scaffolding to see in. Good location of M5 and easy to find with ample parking (be aware the birds poo all over your car as parking is under lots of trees). The rooms themselves are a good size and clean. The bed was comfortable and it wasn't super noisy until the Friday night. There was however quite a lot of mold around the shower screen. The receptionist did say that all the rooms were getting renovated over the winter. Restaurant looked good but i didn't eat there and the prices looked reasonable according to the menu. The staff on reception were really nice. Is definitely missing a lift as i had to travel up several flights of stairs with a heavy suitcase!! That being said, i had a really pleasant stay and extended my stay for the Friday night. It was exceptionally good value, as i had ordered a single room on my original booking but was upgraded to a double (I did pay the double room price for the additional night) and I would stay there again.
