Hotel Alvariini

I am sorry to say that I was quite shocked when I arrived at the hotel. To me, it was nowhere near 4 stars but more like a semi-shabby motel. I mean, Hilton Helsinki Kalastajatorppa, for instance, is a 4-star hotel, and Alvariini is as close to that as Earth is to Mars. The cleanliness of the room left to be desired as there was dust and the mattress had stains. It has become a habit of mine to check all hotel beds thoroughly before I can get comfortable (you know, bed bugs and things...). Unfortunately, I found a few tiny, albeit dead, bugs (not bed bugs but something else) in between the mattresses. I went to the reception and weighed my options knowing I could absolutely not sleep in that bed. The reception staff was very helpful and understanding, which I appreciated. As no other room was available for the night, a staff member stripped the bed entirely and replaced everything with clean ones. I felt more comfortable after that, and was also offered free dinner as compensation. However, more attention needs to be paid to cleaning the rooms and beds properly. It all turned out ok in the end but in all honesty, I would not book to Alvariini a second time.
