“what a gem....pure unassuming Tudor opulence...Stunning Bed Chambers with the most comfortable bed ever... Yes its a price ...but trust me, Thornbury Castle is no Travelodge....dedicated workforce with great knowledge of the Castle. Nothing ever too much trouble...warm, clean ,Great Food....have a good wander round the gardens....This Castle borders on the perfection spectrum.....is there a UK 6 star ? This unique does not need a Star.....my only observation is an opulent Castle encourages the Nouveax Riche ....never judge a book by its cover.....look the mirror....just an observation ”

“Exellent price if you make a non-refundable booking in advance although some days (of the week) are much cheaper than others, apparently due to business users demand patterns. Very comfortable bed and good-sized room. Note that there is no aircon but windows can be opened. ”

“Considering I paid 3 digit number amount for 1 night for 3 adults, I found it not value for money. Then to find out the beds were very springy and breakfast didn't taste fresh. They had eggs on order, but the fried eggs was very very oily that I couldn't eat and had to ask for boiled eggs. Bakery pastry looked and tasted undercooked. However staff were kind!”

“Stayed one night. Room was clean and bed very comfortable with tea/coffee making facilities, iron etc provided. Next morning we enjoyed a very good breakfast at a reasonable cost. One rather big negative though; Only one (very nice) young man named Credit was on both reception AND bar duty ,which meant a delay of over 20 mins for us to check in, even though there were no other guests checking in at that time. (7pm). We decided to eat dinner in the hotel which we ordered at 8pm. The restaurant was not busy. Only one other couple were ordering just before us and were served their meal in reasonable time. . Despite our numerous queries and assurances that our dinner would not be much longer, we finally cancelled it at almost 9pm. There was no apology or explanation from the kitchen. Only the young man Credit who was very apologetic but could not explain the delay. This rather spoiled our impression of the hotel. ”

“Staff were polite and helpful, room was mediocre. Lights in the room were faulty. Only stayed 1 night and wouldn't use the place again. In my opinion it was over priced and for the money I expected a lot more!! The facilities seemed to be reasonable but didn't use the pool or spa so can't comment on those. ”

“Lovely place for no frills stay. Very clean. The only drawback is the traffic noise from the main road which the hotel has no control over. A few places to eat nearby, breakfast the horseshoe is great value. I will return. ”
